Sixth meetings between the General Secretariat of the WAMU Banking Commission and the General Managers and Statutory Auditors of credit institutions and financial companies
The sixth (6th) annual meetings between the General Secretariat of the UMOA Banking Commission (SGCB) and the banking and accounting professions were held, by videoconference, on November 11 and 12, 2021.
The meeting with the General Managers of credit institutions and financial companies, which brought together one hundred and eighty-six (186) managers, took place on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 9 a.m. In his opening address, Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet KONE, Governor of the BCEAO, Chairman of the Banking Commission, informed the banking profession of the WAMU financial sector assessment program, currently being implemented by a joint mission of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. After welcoming the involvement of the various players in the sector in implementing the measures taken in the context of the health crisis, he drew their attention to the main emerging risks.
The work focused in particular on the situation of the banking system, the main findings from documentary and on-site audits as well as the regulatory developments envisaged.
The meeting with the Auditors was held on November 12, 2021 at 9 a.m., with the participation of approximately one hundred and fifty-six (156) external auditors. At the start of the work, the Secretary General of the Banking Commission thanked the profession for its massive participation and insisted on the preponderant role it plays in the early detection of the vulnerabilities of credit institutions, particularly in the context of the health crisis.
The work mainly concerned current regulatory developments as well as the expectations of both the supervisor and the accounting profession.
