The WAMU Banking Commission was created by a convention signed by the Ministers of Finance of the WAMU Member States on 24 April 1990 in Ouagadougou, with the aim of ‘contributing to ensuring uniform and more effective supervision of banking activity and integration of the banking area within WAMU"
