Meetings between the General Secretariat of the Banking Commission and the managers of institutions in the banking and microfinance sectors (by videoconference, November 16 and 17, 2022)
The General Secretariat of the WAMU Banking Commission organized by videoconference, on November 16 and 17, 2022, the annual meetings with the General Managers of credit institutions and financial companies on the one hand, and the main leaders of Financial Systems Decentralized (SFD) of large size, on the other hand.
The opening of these meetings, which are respectively in their 7th and 2nd editions, was chaired by Mr. Jean-Claude Kassi BROU, Governor of BCEAO, Chairman of the Banking Commission. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Banking Commission notably sent a strong message to the banking industry and to microfinance players on the measures to be taken for better risk management, in the context marked by macroeconomic uncertainties at the international level.
The meeting with the banking community made it possible to discuss the situation in the sector, the main issues arising from documentary and on-site inspections, as well as the conclusions of the last mission of the WAMU Financial Sector Assessment Program ( PESF) led by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Banking industry concerns were also addressed.
As for the meeting with the first managers of large-scale Decentralized Financial Systems (DFS), it made it possible to review the difficulties related to their activity, the main risks carried by these entities as well as their level of compliance with the regulations which apply to them. are applicable.
It should be noted that exchange and awareness meetings were also organized with the auditors of these institutions subject to the control of the Banking Commission.
