On 9 July 2024, the WAMU Banking Commission organised a seminar for members of the Supervisory Board and the Resolution Board at the main branch of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).

The seminar, chaired by the Governor of the BCEAO and Chairman of the Banking Commission, aimed to discuss the issues and challenges facing the banking sector in the WAMU and to enhance the understanding of members of the two (2) bodies of the legal and regulatory framework for banking supervision, which has recently undergone significant changes.

The session also provided an opportunity to analyse the impact of these reforms on the powers of the Control Authority, the way in which they are exercised and the responsibilities attached to them.
